Edexcel International A Level (IAL) — Summer 2026
Pearson Edexcel IAL exams follow a slightly different timetable from Cambridge. Key facts:
- IAL exams begin: ~6 May 2026
- GCE exams begin: 11 May 2026
- All exams end: 23 June 2026
- Contingency day: 24 June 2026
- Results: ~20 August 2026 (third Thursday of August)
Edexcel IAL is used by some Dubai schools alongside or instead of Cambridge. The content and assessment style differ — if your school uses Edexcel, ensure your tutor is familiar with the Edexcel specification. Download the full timetable from qualifications.pearson.com.
Results Day: Monday 11 August 2026
Cambridge AS and A Level results are released on Monday 11 August 2026 — one week before IGCSE results. This is particularly important for students who have conditional university offers (especially UCAS) dependent on their A-Level grades.
For a complete guide on what to do on results day, see our Results Day Guide — the process for remarking and retakes is similar for A-Level.
What Should Students Do Now?
- Map your personal timetable. A-Level exams span ~7 weeks. Identify which of your papers cluster together and which have long gaps. Use gaps for targeted revision.
- Prioritise A2 papers. A2 papers carry more weight than AS papers for the full A-Level grade. If time is limited, focus revision on A2 content.
- Practise with past papers. Cambridge and Edexcel both publish past papers. Complete at least 3-5 past papers per subject under timed conditions before the real exam.
- Book a specialist tutor. With exams starting on 23 April, there are less than 4 weeks remaining. A focused A-Level tutor can target your weak topics and teach exam technique that classroom revision cannot.
